When you’re an Addams, you do what Addams do or —
We are hosting a webinar 30 April at 6:30pm GMT which gives you a chance to meet the tutor and see an overview of what the course covers, as well as learn about accommodation. The webinar will include time for Q&A. We encourage you to register even if you can’t join, as you will be able to view the recording.
This summer, step into the Addams Family mansion and perform the hit musical at a real castle! Our exclusive summer school offers performers the chance to experience the rehearsal and performance of this cult classic musical. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just beginning your journey in musical theatre, this unforgettable Summer School will spark your creativity and bring your dreams to life.
The Addams Family musical features your favourite ghoulish characters, and throughout the course students will perform a full-scale production of this fun and quirky show against the backdrop of a 14th century castle – the perfect setting for this macabre musical.
In Week One, the students will take part in skills-based sessions and rehearsals at the RCS campus that will prepare them for working with choreography, acting and singing. This will give students the opportunity to spend time in Glasgow city centre and experience student life at Scotland’s national conservatoire.
In Week Two, students will relocate to Dean Castle and continue to take part in rehearsals that culminate in a performance on location at the castle! Based at Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock (40-minutes drive from Glasgow), students will work hard to bring the show together ahead of the performance. Working and living on site will give students a truly immersive experience in this rustic and fun filled location.
The Addams Family is presented through special arrangement with and all authorised performance materials are supplied by Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW). www.theatricalrights.co.uk
Throughout the course you will:
- become immersed in the rehearsal process of a full length musical
- develop your choreography and vocal skills
- explore techniques which can enhance character development and story-telling, through the analysis and rehearsal of monologues and scenes
- discover the opportunities and challenges of working on location

Dean Castle sits within the stunning 200 acre grounds of Dean Castle Country Park. The recently renovated 14th century castle is situated in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. The castle was the home of the Boyd family for over 400 years. It was inherited by the 8th Lord Howard de Walden in 1899 who restored the buildings which had lain in ruins since a fire in 1735. The Keep, dating to around 1350, houses outstanding displays that tell the story of the Boyd family and medieval life. From the exquisite craftsmanship and rarity of the musical instrument collection to the Viking sword that fires the imagination, the Dean Castle and the collections represent over 1000 years of the history of Ayrshire, its people and the story of Scotland.
Within Dean Castle Country Park, you will find the residential accommodation block attached to a public café. Then a short walk through the grounds, you’ll find the castle, woodlands, forest walks and Rural Life centre. The public will have access to the castle from 11am to 4pm, and you’ll be working in rooms within and around the castle, and rehearsal spaces on the grounds.
If you’re a fan of the hit show Outlander, Dean Castle was used as Beaufort Castle in Series 2.
Base Glasgow, as purpose-built accommodation for Conservatoire students, with Rehearsal Rooms, Practice spaces and Dance Studios. Base Glasgow is perfectly suited for our summer school students; both safe and secure, with 24/7 staff presence and only 10 mins walk from our Wallace Studios building.
Classic En-Suite rooms come with a 3/4 bed, en-suite bathroom, ample storage, mirror, study desk and chair. The shared area includes a spacious lounge and kitchen area.
