Musical Theatre: Production (Secondary 1-3)

Year-long Weekly Short Course for Children and Young People

Overview

Join us in the world of musical theatre with our Saturday afternoon Musical Theatre: Production class for Secondary 1-3 students!

In this exciting, term-based program, students will work on a different musical each term, gaining the skills and confidence needed to perform a variety of iconic show tunes, choreography, and dramatic scenes. By the end of each term, students will have the chance to showcase their talents in a showcase of all of the musicals they have explored through the year.

This class is designed for students who are passionate about musical theatre and eager to develop their singing, dancing, and acting skills. Each term focuses on a new musical, so students will explore a range of genres, styles, and characters—from classic Broadway favourites to modern hits. Whether they’re just starting out or have some experience, this class offers a fun, supportive environment for students to grow as performers and work collaboratively with their peers.

In each term, students will participate in weekly rehearsals, where they’ll work on vocal technique, dance routines, and scene work from the selected musical. They’ll build confidence as they learn to perform solo and in ensemble numbers, developing key musical theatre skills such as voice projection, timing, and physicality.

By working on a different musical each term, students will gain exposure to a variety of musical styles and performance techniques, helping them to become well-rounded performers. They will also learn about the importance of ensemble work and how to communicate a story through song, dance, and acting.

At the end of Term 3, students will perform a showcase for family and friends, where they can demonstrate everything, they’ve learned in front of an audience, gaining experience and confidence in live performance.

By the end of this course you will have:

  • Developed singing, dancing, and acting skills specific to musical theatre
  • Expanded your ability to pick up choreography and to integrate movement with story and character
  • Built character development skills and express emotions through performance
  • Enhanced you stage presence, confidence, and public speaking
  • Worked on ensemble skills, learning the importance of collaboration
  • Performed a mini-production at the end of Term 3 to showcase newfound skills

  • Public Sharing– 20 June 2026 (family and friends are invited to this performance)

This class pairs perfectly with our Musical Theatre (Secondary 1-3) where students will expand and hone their skills in singing, acting, & dancing.
