Year-long Weekly Short Course for Children and Young People

Overview
Join us for an exciting and enriching experience in musical theatre with our Saturday Afternoon Musical Theatre: Production class for Secondary 4-6 students!
This exciting program allows students to immerse themselves in a new musical every term, providing a diverse, hands-on experience in singing, dancing, and acting. Over the course of the year, students will develop their performance abilities and work towards an end-of-term production to showcase their growth as well-rounded musical theatre performers.
Each term, students will focus on a different musical, diving deep into its songs, choreography, and scenes. From classic Broadway hits to modern musical favourites, students will have the opportunity to explore various genres and styles, broadening their understanding and skill set. The class is designed to foster creativity, confidence, and technical skill development, making it perfect for those serious about improving their craft.
Throughout each term, students will engage in weekly rehearsals, focusing on vocal training, dance routines, acting techniques, and character development. They will learn to bring a character to life through song and movement, while refining their stage presence and performance skills. Whether it’s perfecting a solo number or working as part of a dynamic ensemble, students will gain hands-on experience in the full spectrum of musical theatre.
By the end of the term, students will present a sharing that highlights the skills and techniques they’ve mastered. The opportunity to perform in front of an audience allows students to build confidence, gain real-world performance experience, and celebrate the hard work they’ve put into bringing the musical to life.
By the end of this course you will have:
- Developed advanced acting, singing, and dancing skills specific to musical theatre
- Expanded your choreography and stage movement knowledge, bringing characters to life through dance
- Enhanced character development through detailed scene work and song interpretation
- Built confidence on stage and improve public speaking
- Strengthened ensemble collaboration and learn to work effectively within a group
Throughout the year you will have opportunity to work towards a short performance for an invited audience of family and friends.
- Public Sharing – 20 June 2026 (family and friends are invited to this performance)
This class pairs perfectly with our Musical Theatre (Secondary 4-6) where students will expand and hone their skills in singing, acting, & dancing.
