Performance

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Conservatoire provides you with the opportunity to collaborate with peers across the disciplines and create new, interdisciplinary work. Our curriculum is built around the ethos of collaboration in performance. Here, all students work together to learn new skills and create truly memorable and unique performances.

Some of our recent performances have included:

The Yellow Club

Sunshine and shipwrecks, mistaken identity, jazz and soul. The Yellow Club included over a hundred students from across ballet, contemporary dance, musical theatre, acting, film and production programmes who worked together to present a vibrantly colourful, multi-artform re-imagining of Shakespeare’s festive comedy Twelfth Night. Where music is the food of love and nobody is quite what they seem, anything proves possible.

Curiouser and Curiouser

Inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland, students from across Junior Conservatoire programmes of Drama, Dance, Production and Film presented a collaborative piece of theatre, creating a modern version of the story. Students went on a magical journey exploring the themes of friendship, loss, and celebration.

Man Covets Bird

In this performance piece, Acting Level 1 are combining their Voice, Movement and Performance skills to share a story of growth, discovery, and connection. Through their Ensemble Performance module, the group have explored the concept of ‘one storyteller, multiple voices’ to seek cohesion in the collaborative delivery of this gentle and playful storytelling production.

Somewhere in my Memory

A fun, feel-good winter show including some of our favourite Christmas characters, songs, dances, scenes, and films from throughout the years. Performed by Junior Conservatoire students from Acting, Musical Theatre, Film, Young Ballet Company, Contemporary Youth Dance Company and supported by the Junior Conservatoire Production students.

What’s Your Next Move?

We invite you to view, and share, our new campaign film for the Junior Conservatoire of Drama, Dance, Production and Film.

Titled What’s Your Next Move and inspired by #DanceTok on TikTok and its friendly and inclusive nature, it’s the first conceptional campaign for the Junior Conservatoire and focuses on what makes RCS a place ‘like nowhere else’.

The 90-second video is a compelling story of collaboration between artforms – illustrating how students work across disciplines at the Junior Conservatoire of Drama, Dance, Production and Film – from pre- to post-production and everywhere in between.
