Introduction
The Pre-Junior Conservatoire of Dance programme aims to inspire and teach the next generation of dancers, starting with core skills at an early education level. We offer this programme in these locations:
- Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Wallace Studios), Glasgow on Mondays
- Primary 4- 5: 5pm-6.15pm
- Primary 6 -7: 6.15pm- 7.30pm
- Dumfries House, East Ayrshire on Tuesdays
- Primary 4- 5: 5pm- 6.15pm
- Primary 6-7: 615pm -730pm
- This is a fully funded programme for Ayrshire residents only.
- Edinburgh Satellite Centre on Mondays
- Primary 4-7: 5.45pm-7pm
We work in partnership with Dumfries House to deliver dance classes for young people in East Ayrshire, as well as at our own RCS Glasgow campus, and Dalkeith Palace in Edinburgh to ensure as many young people as possible can engage with high-quality dance tuition.
These dance classes are delivered as part of the Junior Conservatoire offering from RCS and young students are encouraged to develop their ballet technique, creativity and performance skills. We look for young people who are enthusiastic about dance, want to learn new skills and who show potential and an aptitude for rhythm and movement.

Entry requirements
To gain a place on our Pre-Junior Conservatoire of Dance programme at any of our locations, you must take part in an audition, a simple ballet class, where you can meet the teachers and ask any questions.
We do not ask for previous dance experience or formal entry requirements from Level 1 auditionees – instead we look for students’ natural rhythm, potential and eagerness to learn dance. If you are auditioning for Level 2 we would ask that you have a few years’ ballet experience.
