Introduction
The Young Ballet Company meets weekly to develop a young ballet dancer’s understanding of ballet repertoire and performance skills while creating work for performance throughout the year.
Dancers will meet weekly at Wallace Studios where they will work for the day as an ensemble. Each day will start with technique class accompanied by live music to focus the dancer’s mind and body in preparation for the rest of the day.
Following this, the Young Ballet Company will learn and develop an understanding of repertoire and performance techniques focussing on enhancing the skills required to be a dancer in a company. Each dancer will also develop their own creative and choreography skills in response to tasks, stimuli and themes given throughout the session when working on new choreography.
During the year the company will create and rehearse choreography for multiple performance events and have the opportunity to work with guest artists to increase their skills and knowledge.
The Young Ballet Company is an auditioned company open to all dancers from Primary 7 to S6 who have some experience in Classical Ballet training. Dancers will be streamed into the appropriate level during the audition process.
Join us for our open day on the 7th of May 2023.
Auditions will take place on the 28th of May 2023.
