First co-presentation by RCS and Scottish Opera announced
The first co-presentation between Scottish Opera and RCS’s new Advanced Artist Diploma in Opera programme has been announced.
Mozart’s Così fan tutte will be performed at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal and Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre in May and June 2027. Celebrated period specialist John Butt will conduct The Orchestra of Scottish Opera with a performance in Edinburgh conducted by RCS’s Leverhulme Conducting Fellow, Stefano Boccacci.
This exciting collaboration between Scotland’s national conservatoire and Scotland’s national opera company, unveiled today (7 May 2026) as part of Scottish Opera’s 2026/27 season, offers young international singers the opportunity to experience the professional world in their final months of study.
Rebecca Meltzer directs this new production with designs by Kat Heath, creating a colourful, stylised, and stylish world where not all is as it seems.
Scottish Opera’s Music Director Stuart Stratford is a regular guest tutor at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland; he and The Orchestra of Scottish Opera are helping to train the next generation of conductors studying at the Conservatoire.
RCS MMus conductors enjoy concerto workshop sessions with The Orchestra of Scottish Opera and RCS student soloists, under Stuart’s guidance. The Company also supports the Leverhulme Conducting Fellowship with the current Fellow will receive coaching and performance opportunities.
Priority booking opens for Friends and Patrons of RCS and Scottish Opera on 14 May 2026, with general public sales for both venues open from Thursday 28 May.
