What will the Audition Preparation Weekend involve?
This short course will be led by staff who are involved in auditioning for the BA Performance in BSL and English degree programme. It will be an invaluable chance to break the ice with potential auditioners and to practice for the day itself.
- Staff will fully explain the application and audition process.
- They will help you select and develop your monologue and devised piece.
- They will guide you through the audition day itself and what to expect.
- There will be an opportunity to perform your pieces and receive feedback.
- There will be a Q&A about the auditioning process and what we are looking for.
This weekend should help you feel more clear and confident about auditioning with us.

How Does an Online Course Work?
How does an online course work?
The course will run through Microsoft Teams and the ‘live’ online sessions via Zoom. In advance of the course you will be added to a class group within MS Teams. The links/password for each Zoom session will be posted with the chat function of this group. This will also be used as a place for discussion, sharing of materials and of course work.
We recognise that studying online is not the same as being in the building with us but we are excited to be able to welcome people from far and wide and see some new faces.
Most of our staff are fluent in BSL, and a number are themselves Deaf. Before the course you will be asked about your communication preferences and we will provide a BSL interpreter if required.
What do I need to take part?
As this course is all delivered online you will need access to a device such as a desktop computer, laptop or tablet which allows you to access the internet with a screen large enough to see the group members during online sessions.
You will need internet connection which is fast enough to take part in video sessions on Zoom.
You will need pen/pencil and paper/notebook to make notes.
It would be useful to have a space you can use where you can work without interruptions.
