Introduction
What good is sitting, alone in your room?
Come hear the music play.
This one week, in person course for young people ages 12-17, is designed for those who want to write and perform their own cabaret. The course will offer information and instruction in the art of cabaret including script writing, vocal and performance technique, harmony work and microphone etiquette.
Working with a musical director, acting and voice tutor you will:
- Discuss the skills required in the creation of material for a cabaret using a stimulus
- Learn how to structure a cabaret
- Study repetition and patter choice
- Learn vocal techniques including harmony work
- Explore performance techniques and microphone etiquette
- Perform your cabaret to an invited audience.
As well as writing and performing your own cabaret, you will also have the option to feature in other class member’s cabarets.
This course may be of interest to anyone looking to apply for the MA in Musical Theatre, as a cabaret module features in this course.
