In the Post-COVID era, the need for performance-makers to engage with a fundamental understanding of production sound will play a significant role in creating new and diverse work. With an increase in demand for online performance, incorporating production knowledge and individual discipline expertise will provide you with the resilience required in a quickly changing environment. Please see Who is this course for? for further information about whether this is the right course for you.
Sound for Production will allow you to engage with the software and techniques required to produce soundscapes and playback for your performances. The module will be delivered entirely online and requires you to engage in discussion and group activity before working independently to create a personal response to self-determined stimuli. Your work will be carried out under guidance and will take into account the resources that are already available to you.
A reflective summary will give you the opportunity to evaluate your creative response and demonstrate an awareness of the dynamic nature of the production sound discipline.
During the course students will:
- Create a sonic environment in response to a self-determined stimulus.
- reflect on your sound design skills for your practical project in relation to your new learning and your home discipline.
You will be assessed through the production of a Practical Project (50%) and a Reflective Statement (50%). Please see Course Outline for further information regarding the course and assessment.
