Induction Week Information

Before beginning your studies, you must complete the online matriculation form that will be sent to you using your RCS login details. In addition to completing the online form, you are required to attend an in-person matriculation session on your first day.

Please bring an accepted form of identification, such as a passport or driving licence, as this will be required to complete the process. Once your matriculation has been approved and all relevant finance and enrolment checks have been completed, you will be issued with your student card.

You are required to attend an IT induction session to help you become familiar with the key digital systems and resources used at RCS.

Please bring your laptop with you to this session. You will be shown how to access and navigate important systems, including Moodle and Asimut, and will receive guidance on how these platforms will support your studies and day-to-day activities throughout your time at RCS.

Our Health and Safety team will deliver an important session covering key information about staying safe while studying and working at RCS.

Topics will include fire safety procedures, building safety, and general advice on maintaining your health and wellbeing. Representatives from Police Scotland will also be attending to deliver a short talk on personal safety, vigilance, and staying aware of your surroundings.

These sessions are delivered by our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team. They will introduce you to RCS policies, procedures, and expectations surrounding equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

The sessions will also explore the importance of creating a respectful, inclusive, and supportive community where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. You will be encouraged to consider your role in contributing to a positive environment for all students and staff.

We are pleased to welcome representatives from Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre, who will deliver an interactive workshop focusing on sexual consent.

The session will explore what consent means, the importance of clear communication and mutual respect, and how to recognise and respond appropriately to situations involving consent. This training is designed to help promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone within the RCS community.

This session is delivered by our BA Performance team and will provide an introduction to Deaf awareness and communication.

The session will offer an opportunity to learn more about Deaf culture, accessibility, and the experiences of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. You will also receive practical guidance on how to communicate respectfully and inclusively, helping to ensure that RCS is an accessible and welcoming environment for everyone.

These sessions provide an opportunity for you to meet the Director of your School, members of the academic team, and your fellow students.

You will be introduced to the key people who will support you throughout your studies and have the chance to begin getting to know your new student community. The sessions will also provide an overview of the year ahead, including what you can expect from your programme, important information about your studies, and key opportunities and activities available to you throughout the academic year.

This is also a valuable opportunity to ask questions and familiarise yourself with your School and the wider RCS community.

This session is an opportunity for you to meet the wide range of academic and administrative support teams available to support you throughout your studies at RCS.

You will be introduced to key services and teams, including the Programme Support Administrator (PSA) team, Disability Support, International Team, Wellbeing Team, Counselling Team, Student Records Team, Space Planning Team, and Compliance Team.

Each team plays an important role in supporting different aspects of your student experience. The session will provide an overview of the services available, explain how each team can support you, and highlight when and how to access their support.

This is a valuable opportunity to familiarise yourself with the people and services available to you, ask questions, and understand where to go for support throughout your time at RCS.

These sessions are specifically designed for new international and exchange students who will be joining RCS for the first time.

The session will provide an opportunity to meet the International Team, who will be available to offer advice, guidance, and practical support to help you settle into life at RCS and in Glasgow.

Topics covered will include living in Glasgow, immigration and documentation requirements, working hours, and other important information relevant to international and exchange students. The team will also explain the support and services available to you throughout your time at RCS.

This is a valuable opportunity to ask questions, meet other international and exchange students, and ensure you have the information and support you need to make a successful start to your studies in Glasgow.

Join us for a special Principal’s Welcome as we officially welcome you to the university and the start of the new academic year. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet our Principal, Jeffrey Sharkey, hear a special performance from one of our talented Vocal students. Following the welcome and performance, you are invited to join us for a drinks and canapés reception, providing an opportunity to meet fellow students, staff, and members of the Conservatoire community in a relaxed and informal setting. The reception will also feature live music from our talented Traditional Music students.

Join us for a warm welcome from your Student Union President and Vice President, who will introduce you to the Student Union and everything it has to offer during your time at RCS. This session is a great opportunity to find out about the exciting activities and events planned for your first week, giving you the chance to meet new people, make friends, and get involved in student life from the very beginning. You’ll also learn more about the wide range of student societies, clubs, and activities available to join. Whether you want to continue an existing interest, discover a new hobby, develop your skills, or simply connect with students who share your interests, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved. The Student Union will also explain the support available to you throughout your studies, including how they can represent your views, provide advice and guidance, and help you navigate any challenges you may encounter during your time at university. Come along, meet your Student Union representatives, discover what’s happening on campus, and find out how you can make the most of your student experience.
