In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is offering two scholarships to students from China (mainland) and India applying for a one-year postgraduate courses in the following subjects:

  • MA Chamber Music MA Composition
  • MA Conducting
  • MA Jazz
  • MA Joint Principal Study
  • MA Performance
  • MA Performance and Musicology
  • MA Performance and Pedagogy
  • MA Piano for Dance
  • MA Traditional Music
  • MA/MFA Acting Classical and Contemporary Text
  • MA/MFA Directing Classical and Contemporary Text
  • MA Musical Theatre (Directing)
  • MA/MFA Production (Design)
  • MA/MFA Production (Management)

The GREAT Scholarships 2026 programme, launched by the British Council together with over 60 UK universities, supports postgraduate students in accessing world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at over 60 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Please note that applicants must be permanent residents and passport holders of China (mainland only) or India.

Apply for a GREAT Scholarship for RCS

Great Scholarship - China and India
In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is offering a total of two scholarships to students from China (mainland) and India applying for a one-year postgraduate course at RCS.
The scholarship programme offers financial support of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK.
Please note you must hold an offer of a place on your chosen Masters at RCS by the scholarship closing date of Thursday 31st May 2026.
Distance learning  programmes are not eligible.

Personal Statement

Please write a personal statement explaining why you should receive a GREAT scholarship from the Royal conservatoire of Scotland, this should be no longer than 500 words.
Please include the following as part of your statement:
  • Why you have chosen your subject for postgraduate study and how studying at  RCS aligns with your future goals.
  • Why you have chosen the UK as a study destination and how you would embody the UK higher education experience and represent the high standards of the GREAT scholarship.
