We believe strongly that no one should face barriers to participation in the arts. We offer bursaries and scholarships to students who, for financial reasons, wouldn’t be able to take part in courses at RCS.
James McAvoy, a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire, shares this belief in arts for all and in 2015 made a donation to allow us to create the James McAvoy Drama Scholarships. These scholarships are for anyone aged 25 and under, who is a Scottish resident, and who wants to take part in a course through the Short Courses department. The aim for this scholarship programme is to support applicants who would otherwise find meeting the cost of tuition fees at RCS a barrier to accessing pre-Higher Education drama training at the Royal Conservatoire.
In the first year of this scholarship programme, 29 Scottish young people benefitted from funding fee help and completed a short course or summer school at RCS.
If you are interested in working with RCS to create a scholarship or bursary programme please get in touch with us at development@rcs.ac.uk.
