Like Nowhere Else: new interactive prospectus brings Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to life
It’s a place like nowhere else, with a unique energy and its own special kind of magic.
Everyone who steps inside the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) can feel the pulse of this extraordinary place that’s alive with a passion for performance.
And now, with the launch of our new interactive prospectus (rcs.ac.uk/prospectus) it lifts the curtain on Scotland’s national conservatoire, with pages that burst into life with exclusive interviews with groundbreaking and globetrotting graduates, who share what it means to study at one of the world’s top performing arts education institutions.
Using the Zappar app, which is free to download, prospective students just scan an icon on the printed editions to unlock exclusive bonus features of graduates sharing their experiences of studying at RCS.
They include Laura Donnelly who was named Best Actress at the 2018 Olivier Awards for her role in The Ferryman, staged in London’s West End and on Broadway. There’s mezzo soprano Svetlina Stoyanova, who won first prize in the Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition in 2017 while still a student and went straight from her studies to the Vienna State Opera.
Other graduate interviews include Cora Bissett, the acclaimed director, writer, actor and singer/songwriter; set and costume designer Louie Whitemore, mezzo soprano and Cardiff Singer of the World winner Catriona Morison, theatre lighting designer Grant Anderson and dancer Keenan Fletcher who is currently on tour in the iconic production of Swan Lake staged by Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures.
Prospective students can also take digital 360-degree tours of key parts of the campus including the New Athenaeum Theatre and the production workshops.
Professor Jeffrey Sharkey, Principal of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, said: “Our prospectus has always offered a window into the world of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and this year even more so than ever with a new interactive element. The RCS really is a place like nowhere else, with all the performing arts under one roof, and located in the vibrant city of Glasgow which is one of the friendliest in the world.
“We’re delighted to harness technology to offer a greater insight into life here and we hope it gives potential students a flavour of what it’s really like to study at RCS and we look forward to welcoming them here in person.”
The prospectus is designed by D8, the award-winning Glasgow-based creative agency.
