New Assistant Conductor of RSNO

Former RCS Leverhulme Fellow Holly Mathieson has been appointed as the new Assistant Conductor for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, securing the post over 300 other applicants.

The Assistant Conductorship is a two-year post which will see Holly work with the RSNO’s expert musicians and guest conductors from across the world, as well as receive professional guidance from RSNO Music Director Peter Oundjian and mentors in the RSNO.

Holly was the Leverhulme Conducting Fellow in 2014/15 where she had the opportunity to work with Donald Runnicles at the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the RSNO and Red Note Ensemble whilst studying within the Conducting department at RCS. Holly will take up her new post, as well as continue in her position as Conductor of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland’s Junior Orchestra.
