The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is recruiting new members to join its Board of Governors to shape the future one of the most creative and collaborative institutions in Europe.

Founded in 1847 and located in Glasgow, RCS is one of the finest multi-disciplinary arts education environments in the world, with excellent performance and rehearsal venues and a range of active professional partnerships, including those with all of Scotland’s national arts companies.

It ranks consistently in the global top ten of the prestigious QS World University rankings alongside the likes of New York’s Juilliard School, London’s Royal College and Royal Academy, and the Conservatoire de Paris.

RCS provides students with the skills they need to excel and find their artistic voice in a way that is relevant to and impactful in the world as it is.

The Board of Governors plays an important role in the life of RCS. Governors are integral to the development and implementation of the Royal Conservatoire’s strategic objectives and offer constructive challenge as well as the monitoring and evaluating of performance in line with these objectives.

In more general terms, governors have an important role in supporting the delivery of the conservatoire’s strategic priorities including its teaching excellence, innovation and sustainability agendas.

Applications are welcome from candidates with a strong commitment to higher education in Scotland and a passion for the performing arts, especially those with specialist professional knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Development and Fundraising
  • Finance and Pensions
  • Performing Arts
  • Academia
