THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED UNTIL A FURTHER DATE. Please contact Box Office if you have booked.

Join us for a journey through the music of one of Romania’s most influential composers. Having studied with Max Reger in Leipzig, and Florent Schmitt in Paris, Jora’s music draws on the spirit of the first half of the 20th century in an exceptionally distinct, personal way, joining the ranks of composers such as Bartok, Stravinsky, and Ravel. Above all influences, the spirit of Romanian folk music is the quintessential feature of Jora’s music.

This concert is a short chronological survey of Jora’s chamber music: there will be sonatas, short pieces, songs and suites. The evening will start with the very early op. 3 Little Suite For Violin and Piano, and end with one of Jora’s last and most mysterious pieces: his 2nd String Quartet, op. 52.
