The Short Film Triple Bill presents three films by MFA CCT graduating artists:
Never Hike Alone, comprising of two interlocking short films, Upcycled and Composting by Beth Gallagher and Alison Kertz;
NIGHTSHIFT by Chris Ginesi.

Never Hike Alone (Upcycled + Composting)

Never Hike Alone is made of two distinct yet interlocking short films, Upcycled and Composting.

In Upcycled, a crafty vigilante on the hunt to restock her yarn is attacked by a predator but refuses to let the experience—or the predator—go to waste. In Composting, a popular true crime podcaster discovers a dangerous clue while searching for her missing brother, forcing her to decide where her morals begin and end.

Individually, each film is a full, independent arc, but they exist in the same world and on the same storyline. They can be viewed independently, or one after the other, in either order.

NIGHTSHIFT

Remember the kid who built a nuclear reactor in his garage? That was Hank Evers. He was a legend – the youngest professor at Pacific Tech, with a mind that blazed like a supernova.

But genius is a fickle flame, and now Hank’s just a ghost in his own lab, fuelled by coffee, regret, and the desperate hope that tomorrow might be different. Plagued by insomnia, he’s haunted by hyper-realistic dreams of portals and the incessant call of a blackbird, beckoning him towards the unknown. Each sleepless night pushes him further from reality, while his friends, geniuses in their own right, watch in terror as he unravels. Desperate, they offer him a lifeline: the Ziggy Project, a risky experiment, a strange machine, and their last hope to reclaim Hank from the brink. But when the switch flips and the lights go out, Hank finds himself face-to-face with a challenge greater than any equation he’s ever solved: saving the world.
