Baldur Brönnimann returns to RCS to conduct the first Symphony Orchestra concert of the year. Featuring a work by young composer Raquel García-Tomás, Ceci n’est pas un Valse. A work Baldur conducted in its world premiere in November 2024, this will be the UK premiere.
To celebrate 150 years since Maurice Ravel’s birth, the orchestra performs one the impressionist composers works, a tribute to the waltz, La Valse.
Prokofiev’s Symphony No.5 completes the programme, written after a significant break from writing the symphonic form, a work described by the composer himself as “a hymn to free and happy man, to his mighty powers, his pure and noble spirit”
