The Witnesses in recital

August and Maria haven’t had it easy at all. They’ve both lost family. Their neighbours are snobbish, cynical, and vindictive. Sometimes it seems impossible to believe at all in life’s goodness when everyone is just focusing on its bitterness. So how are the two friends supposed to have any hope for themselves? How can they find a reason to smile when even the small things like buying some flowers can turn sour so quickly? What will they have left when their own lives are in jeopardy?
