Enjoy a richly textured programme from the RSNO Piano Quartet, whose members bring together a wealth of experience from Scotland’s national orchestra. The concert opens with Frank Bridge’s Phantasy for Piano Quartet, a single-movement piece full of lyrical intensity and colourful interplay. At the heart of the programme is Fauré’s Piano Quartet No. 1, a work of remarkable sophistication and technical brilliance. Its sweeping melodies and intricate textures demand both sensitivity and virtuosity, offering a vivid display of the ensemble’s artistry. The recital concludes with a lively set of traditional Scottish tunes arranged by Alan KitchenThe Jig Runrig, Sleep Soond Ida Moarnin’, and Dinky’s Reel — providing a spirited and uplifting end to the afternoon.
