Join saxophonist and director Paul Towndrow and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Jazz Orchestra for a powerhouse journey through the golden age of big band music.

This special programme spans foundational sounds and swinging masterworks from across the decades, celebrating legendary bandleaders and arrangers who shaped the art form. Hear the rich sonic textures and driving rhythms of Duke Ellington and the unmistakable, effortless swing of Count Basie alongside the peerless reed writing of Benny Carter and the soaring, brass-heavy dynamism of Stan Kenton’s classic hits.

The set also features timeless arrangements and standout charts from Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman, and a contemporary twist on Glenn Miller’s Moonlight Serenade courtesy of Bob Mintzer.

Expect high-energy ensemble playing, brilliant student soloists, and a celebration of big band tradition brought to life by the next generation of jazz talent.
