We are delighted to announce, that award-winning bandleader, pianist and composer Nikki Iles will lead the next RCS Jazz Orchestra performance in the Stevenson Hall in her role as artist-in-residence.

Award-winning jazz pianist and composer, Nikki Iles was a founding member of the innovative Creative Jazz Orchestra. She has had a busy freelance career working with artists such as Art FarmerJulian ArguellesClaire Martin and Christine Jenson. With over 30 CDs recorded over 3 decades, she has been described as the “Heroine of British Jazz”

With a parallel career as a widely respected teacher in composition and arranging, Nikki is a Professor at the Royal Academy of Music. She also gives masterclasses around the world and has been a driving force behind the innovative Jazz syllabus at the ABRSM and continues to publish extensively with Oxford University Press and EVC Music.

Join us on Wednesday 11 March to hear a showcase of performers from across our undergraduate and postgraduate jazz programmes as they play some of Nikki’s compositions. This performance will showcase the creativity and skill of the next generation of jazz artists as they are led by one of the world’s best conductors and arrangers.
