Jerome David Kern (1885 – 1945) was one of the most important American theatre composers of the early 20th century, writing more than 700 songs which were used in over 100 stage works. Nominated eight times for an Academy Award, and winning twice, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame posthumously in 1970.

Conceived and written by Daisy Henderson of Classical Musicians Scotland, mezzo Sarah Shorter, tenor Christian Schneeberger and pianist Derek Clark tell the story of his life in words and song, following on from the highly popular Celebrating Irving Berlin and George Gershwin.
