Antigone

Drama

Join us for a powerful reimagining of Sophocles’ Antigone

This gripping play explores the timeless themes of duty, loyalty, and justice with a raw intensity.  Witness a young woman’s courageous defiance against tyranny, brought to life by our talented MA/MFA Acting/Directing Classical and Contemporary Text (CCT) students, in an innovative and modern staging.

Welcome

I am delighted to welcome you to our Classical Production performances.

Our students have had the unique opportunity to learn about the performance of Shakespearean texts at the Globe Theatre in London, within a tradition that is honoured by making these writings resonant to modern audiences through performance by culturally varied young actors.

Now, these self-same actors have the opportunity to experience acting in heightened English language using fresh and innovative adaptations of classical scripts, ever-popular as well as obscure, developed by their tutors, directed by them too.

These productions challenge their original literary source material so that it may speak about the way we live now, also providing unique acting opportunities for our students.

Our course this year is distinguished by having a significantly diverse, international cohort, who, performing in a lingua franca endow the production with multilayered, cultural richness.
