Book & Lyrics by Steven Sater
Music by Duncan Sheik
Based on the play by Frank Wedekind

Directed by Louise Shephard

In late 19th century Germany, the naïve Wendla Bergman wants answers to the questions that nobody seems to be able to answer. Elsewhere, the brilliant young scholar Melchior Gabor wonders why his classmates and teachers are so reluctant to address the pressures and harsh realities of adolescence. Through a chance meeting in the woods, their desires and curiosities unravel, with irreversible consequences…

In this bold and rebellious pop-rock musical, winner of eight Tony™ Awards (including Best Musical), teenage angst, self-discovery, sexuality and censorship collide in a thrilling production, brought to the New Athenaeum stage by our final-year BA Musical Theatre cohort.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI – www.MTIShows.co.uk
