Janet Bloxwich is a Bassoon tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Janet studied at the Royal College of Music with Geoffrey Gambold and John Burness from 1974-1977. After spending the next two years freelancing in London including trials with; BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera North, she moved to Scotland to take up the position of Principal Bassoon in the Orchestra of Scottish Opera in 1980.

Since living in Scotland, Janet has also worked with the BBCSSO, RSNO, SCO and Northern Sinfonia.

Janet has been teaching privately andin both the senior and junior departments of the Conservatoire for many years now, producing many successful bassoon players of this generation including Rosina Alterand Karen Geoghegan.

Janet spends a great amount of time making not only her own reeds but supplying many leading players with bassoon and contra reeds, teaching reed making and repairing bassoons.
