Jazz Coordinator / Tutor in Composition / Lecturer in Creative & Contextual Studies
Colin Broom is a composer based in Scotland. He studied Composition with Gordon McPherson at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama.
He has composed music for numerous ensembles and musicians including Icebreaker, Orchestra of Opera North, Hebrides Ensemble, Viridian Quartet, Ensemble Thing, Edinburgh Quartet, Red Note, Tyrolean Ensemble for Contemporary Music and South Bank Gamelan. His music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC 4, Radio Scotland, Radio Magnetic and Radio Icebreaker.
Colin is Jazz Coordinator at the Royal Conservatoire, and teaches both in the Composition and in the Creative & Contextual Studies departments at the Royal Conservatoire. He is also currently undertaking a practice-based PhD researching the relationship between Goal Orientation and Moment Form in Composition.
