Jiaxi Wang (they/them) is a Lecturer in Contemporary Performance Practice mainly mentoring Honours level students, on modules such as: Into the New, Artist in Development, and Placement. Jiaxi is the level co-ordinator for the third year of Contemporary Performance Practice.

Jiaxi is researching and questioning the assimilation and tokenism in staging queer lives, (mis)representation of neurodivergent lived experience, as well as the activism potential (or the lack thereof) of theatre and performance art.

As a practitioner, Jiaxi makes identity-led performance, public participatory shows, and writes interactive fiction. You can find their work in Shanghai, Beijing, London, and online! They also work as a producer and are experienced in international touring with focus on China.

Jiaxi studied Creative Producing (MFA) at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Before that they studied Art History at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing and worked in visual arts.
