Katie Hull grew up in Dorset, then studied violin in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with David Takeno. She was appointed Principal first violin with the Northern Sinfonia at the age of twenty-one, and eight years later moved up to Glasgow where she worked with the Scottish Ensemble and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
Katie was appointed Assistant Leader of the Orchestra of Scottish Opera in 1996 and works regularly with the BBS Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
She has been a violin tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for the last fourteen years and is also chair of Music Co-operative Scotland, formed by the musicians of the Orchestra of Scottish Opera in 2012 to create a range of diverse musical opportunities for its members.
Katie also works with the Music department in the University of Glasgow, giving performance classes for the students on the music and electronics course. She also teaches violin to undergraduates.
