Philip practised as a lawyer for more than 40 years and is a Fellow of the Law Society of Scotland. He was chair of Burness Paull until he left practice. He also previously chaired the Senior Lawyers Committee of the International Bar Association and the board of governors of the Glasgow School of Art and was a governor of Hutchesons’ Educational Trust.

On leaving legal practice, he set up Rimalower Consulting, providing strategic and leadership advice. In addition, he sits on the boards of Dunedin Consort and is a trustee and chair of LAR Housing Trust. Philip has also written on business and law for various publications including The Times, The Herald, The Press & Journal and The Lawyer. He is a member of the GlobalScot Community.

Philip’s interests are travel, loud music and fast cars.
