Jo Mango is a Glasgowbased singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She has performed all over theworld including the Carnegie Hall in New York, South By South West festival in Texas,numerous tours in Japan as well as Canada, Europe and Australia.
Jo has collaboratedon performances with David Byrne, Eddi Reader, Devendra Banhart, Roddy Woomble, Midge Ureand many others.Her co-writing includes notable collaborations with Scottish bands such as TeenageFanclub (Baby Lee) and Admiral Fallow (The Beetle in the Box). Her second album Murmuration was released in 2012 togreat acclaim. It featured unique selections from Jo’s eclectic musical instrumentcollection (kalimbas, harmoniums, omnichords and musical saws) and combinedinspiration from her adventures travelling the world as a member of Vashti Bunyan’sband with her experiences in becoming a Doctor of Musicology.

Jo also has many years experience in teaching songwriting. She helped develop the Masters’ in Songwriting and Performance degree at the University of the West of Scotland where she lectures in Commercial Music. She has also taught songwriting to nursery school children (as a Live Music Now musician) and to 6-90 year olds in community centres, prisons, special education institutions, mental health units and collegesacross many years of work as a community musician.
