Patricia Hay was born in Ayr. She graduated from the RSAMD and made her operatic debut as Cherubino with Scottish Opera. She has performed over 30 major roles including Susanna, Despina,
Helena, Oscar, Donna Elvira, Adele and Musetta and sung in opera and concert throughout Great Britain and Europe.

She broadcast extensively on BBC Radio/Television and ITV both classically and in Light Entertainment and has sung in Festivals in Edinburgh, Bergen, Marseilles, Llubljana, Villach, Stuttgart, Parma and Tel Aviv. Areas of responsibility at the RCS as a Senior Vocal Lecturer include Italian Repertoire classes for Masters of Opera and BMus students, Opera audition class and Vocal consultant on the MA Music Theatre course.

She is in constant demand as a private singing teacher for young professionals and as an external examiner in other conservatoires.
