Susan Worsfold is an award winning theatre director specialising in the Nadine George Voice
Work for which she is one of only 14 accredited teachers worldwide. She has worked with the
National Theatre of Scotland and been supported by Creative Scotland, Made in Scotland,
British Council Brazil and British Council Scotland.

Susan is co-company director of Queen Jesus Productions, working with Jo Clifford to direct the
internationally acclaimed The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven, which toured to
Brazil in 2016, won a Made in Scotland and Scottish Arts Award and continues to tour to South
America, UK, Europe and the USA. She was the inaugural Director of The Attic Collective,
establishing an ensemble theatre company resident at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre and Kings
Theatre, working with emerging artists aged 18-26.

She is Creative Development Director of the Nadine George Voice Centre and is Associate
Teacher to the Centre for Voice at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, from which she
graduated with a BA Hons in Directing in 1998.

In 2017/18 she directed and designed Eve by Jo Clifford & Chris Goode for The National
Theatre of Scotland performing at the Traverse Theatre, Citizens Theatre, Dundee Repertory
Theatre, Nairn Festival and the International Theatre Festival in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She
directed The Last Post composed for trumpet, text and electronics (St Magnus International
Festival commission, Made in Scotland 2017 Award), Lysistrata, Threepenny Opera (Kings
Theatre, Edinburgh), War in America (Old Royal High School, Jo Clifford World Premiere) as
Director for the Attic Collective ensemble at Kings and Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Gospel
According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven (UK Tour & Traverse Theatre Christmas Production,
2018), Heroine by Mary Jane Wells (Made in Scotland 2018, Scottish Arts Award), and cocreated
Cleopatra, at Sesc Palladium, Belo Horizonte, Brazil working with Shakespeare’s Antony
& Cleopatra text in Portuguese.

In 2019, she is developing ALIVE with dance artist Skye Reynolds having been supported by
The Work Room and Citymoves and will direct the European Premiere of Father working with
Italian based writer/performer Francesca Bartellini at the Tron Theatre, Scotland. She is curating
and directing a celebratory festival for Jesus, Queen of Heaven’s 10th Anniversary in November
2019 after it tours to Belgium as part of the Made in Scotland Brussels Showcase. Heroine will
tour to the Kennedy Centre, Washington in February 2020.

Susan delivers voice workshops in many communities and has particularly developed the
Nadine George Voice Work (NGVW) to support the transgender community, sign language
interpreters and with Lung Ha, an ensemble company for actors with learning disabilities. She
introduced NGVW to The Federal State University of Minais Gerais, Brazil where she was invited
to teach in 2018 and from January – March 2019 designed and delivered a 2 month professional
actor training course of NGVW & Shakespeare for YAZAN in Beirut. She works with classic,
contemporary and devised texts and currently delivers voice workshops in Scotland, France,
Brazil and Lebanon.
